Funky Photography ~ Year 10 Work Experience

It’s always with joy I look forward to May, as it’s work experience time for hundreds of year 10 students across the Sunshine Coast. Usually I get an eager 15 year old, passionate about photography, has been taking digital photographs since they were born {boy I feel old now}, this year however I got my son. Being a completely disorganised 15 year old, my son didn’t get anyone to take him on for a week, so hey ho, he’s ended up with me 🙂

So far he’s done food photography, including the styling, portrait and landscape photography. He’s loved the art of story telling through images but disliked the amount of time we’ve spent sitting in the office, editing, replying to emails, preparing invoices and orders. Welcome to the ‘real’ life of a photographer baby boy. He also didn’t realise just how much time I spend outdoors, finally the child has got some sunshine and vitamin D 🙂

We’ve been able to spend to fabulous quality time together, including a few coffees and meals out. So here are a few pics of his progress. He’s pretty good at it, although he has decided he really doesn’t want to pursue a career in photography. Not sure whether to laugh or cry about that one.

Neglected……

Yes,  that’s my poor old blog, totally and utterly neglected. The reason for this? Well ‘life’ really.

The end of every year is always a struggle. This year more so as our eldest son graduated high school.  On top of this add in Christmas, birthdays, house and garden stuff, work and hey presto, one neglected blog. So thank you to the emails and messages of concern I’ve received, all is good and I’ve just neglected my blog really 🙂

You can keep up to date with me on Instagram, just hunt out ‘funkyphotography’, hit request and I’ll add you 🙂

We’ve now been in our house a huge 11 months. I don’t feel we’ve achieved a great deal, but apparently we have. As I type this my multi talented hubby is sitting on a mini excavator, rearranging the back yard. We still have the alfresco area to tile, outdoor kitchen to construct and an enormous clock to hang! Oh and planting! We have so much planting to do. Did I mention I still want a pool? Yeah, I might be waiting a while on that one!

So I’m still taking a break from the world of photography. Hopefully mid year, we’ll be sorted enough for me to return to work. I’ll also have some motivation from my youngest son, as he’s in year 10 and has started a photography course ‘camera to canvas’. I’ll definitely be helping him with his homework 🙂

Aaron has also started to enjoy photography, he’s commandeered one of my old cameras, and started following me out in the early hours of the morning.  It’s good to get some mother-son time 🙂

Life Moments ~ At No 15

A boring personal post…………...{or maybe not so boring if you’ve been following our house build/life in general}

It’s been nearly four months since we moved in.  We’ve achieved lots but still have so much to do. Wondering if it ever ends? And, if it does end, will I get bored and do it all over again {build I mean}. In actual fact it’ll probably take us the entire length of the mortgage to finish the place – scary much? So, being VERY lazy the house progress/life pics are brought to you by the power of Instagram – yup. I’ve become a very lazy photographer indeed 🙂

All the rooms are slowly getting there {with thanks to The Block  – genius TV that has seen many of us dashing out and raiding Beacon Lighting and Freedom because of course we’re interior designers – pffttt}, and Pinterest. Yup, hand up, I’ll admit it, I’ve had my poor husband making various pieces of furniture out of old builders pallets, and scrap stuff he’s found around the garden {and the tip}. He’s doing rather well at it too. We are however missing {in no particular order of preference}

1. A pool

2. A landscaped garden

3. A tiled alfresco area

4. More retaining walls {yes MORE}!

5. A bbq/kitchen in said alfresco area

6. Furniture – media room, front room, music room – it seemed a good idea in the planning stages to have all these rooms, didn’t even cross my mind we’d have to furnish them 🙂

Having said that we are oh so happy 🙂 The position of the house is amazing, north facing – the sunset in the evening spectacular and of course the views of Mount Cooroy glorious. So yes, we may still be a way off ‘finishing’ {and that house warming}, but we’re just happy to be have a roof over our heads for our little family.

Noosa Heads Pregnancy and Baby Photography ~ Sunshine Coast

“A baby girl brings worlds of joy by merely being there.

Within the shelter of your arms,  the comfort of your care” author unknown

Remember this beauty-full belly?  A few weeks ago we finally got to say hullo to the G family’s teeny tiny Miss A, and she is truly adored. Congratulations G family. Next stop photographing all six of you together 🙂
