The past few months have gone in a bit of a whirl if I’m honest. One minute we were standing on a vacant piece of land, the next we’re moving in to our freshly built house. If I thought the hard work was over, I was wrong! It’s only just beginning {sigh}. So to date we’ve moved out of rental, done the bond clean (horrid, horrid job), moved in to new house, decorated one room and had the laundry fitted out. We still haven’t:- decorated, tiled splash back in laundry, finished lights, concreted alfresco area, landscaped garden, put side fence up, had shutters fitted. So just a bit to do then 🙂 But……..WE HAVE OUR NEW HOME! It feels amazing! The hard work is worth it. So here’s a few snap shots, all Iphone as I’ve been a tad lax in the camera department, hey ho I’ll get back to it eventually.

We really are so much closer to finally being able to move in. Hurrah, we did it. We have ‘almost’ built our own home. I think we’ve underestimated exactly how much extra work there is to do. It’s exciting and scary. We’ve still got electrical fittings to fit, a tap to change, some decorating {boys rooms mostly}, furniture to source, gardening – the list seems endless. It really is quite daunting.
Today the flooring is being finished. Pele and Lenny have done an awesome job. We worried about having bamboo flooring, but it looks amazing. Thank you SO much guys! We got our bamboo from Bamboo Australia in Belli Park, so a nice local company too. My lovely hubby also gave in and, {deep breath} I GOT MY PENDANTS LIGHTS! They are totally gorgeous and very much worth the $$$’s {although Mark would beg to differ}. I’m pretty sure he’ll grow to love them as much as I do, eventually. You can see them HERE. They’re going to look lovely in the kitchen.
So the next blog post be when we’ve moved in ~ eek, it hardly seems real.

‘Where words fail, music speaks’ ~ Hans Christian Andersen
Anyone that knows me, knows I am passionate about a few things; vintage clothing, heels, food, ‘geekery’ {no, it’s not a word but it should be} and above all else music. Music is a huge part of my world. It helps me get through my day, my editing and it inspires me for sessions. It is always therefore such a pleasure to be asked to help create a vision for music artists. I have worked with some absolutely incredible Australian artists, so it was an honour to be contacted by a very successful music manager from Melbourne and asked to work with Australian singer/songwriter Alys Longmate. Alys is an amazing music artist and such a beauty-full person who has recently become an ambassador for Martin Guitars {apparently that’s like Nikon choosing me to represent them ~ and supplying me with their newest cameras, I can only dream. C’mon Nikon I’m worth it}!
Here are just a few from our time together. A huge thank you to the lovely folk at the Metal Tiger Tea Emporium for allowing us to have our session at their wonderful cafe in Noosa, and also to the beautiful Poets Cafe in Montville. I cannot wait to work with Alys again and watch her career grow. You can follow Alys on Facebook and also watch her new acoustic videos HERE

Oh yes, we are ‘beige’ all the way through the house, and I’m loving it! Cannot believe the painting is almost finished. Next stop the final fit out and fix then I guess it’s time for us to take over and start making it ‘pretty’. It seems so strange that we are at this stage of the build. A few months ago, we stood on our vacant block dreaming of what ‘could’ be. Today we stand and gaze up at our ‘home’. Feeling very grateful right now and excited to see the final fixtures in place as well as the flooring and lights. Our planning has gone in to overdrive, though I really never, ever want to discuss down lights with anyone ever again, or bamboo flooring for that matter 😉 I’m beginning to wonder whether Mark and I will ever have a conversation that doesn’t involve ‘the build’. Holiday needed perhaps?

It feels like such a long time from when I last picked up my cameras to do a session. With the house build, rain, rain and more rain everything, including sessions, has been delayed. It was therefore just fabulous to see the sun shining for Miss M’s session at gorgeous Peregian Beach. Miss M is such an amazing little girl, so talented at such a young age. I’ve listened to her sing on several occasions now, and all I can say is WOW ~ goosebumps! Miss M loves musical theatre, and with her talent and families support, I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of her on the stage in the future.
Thank you Miss M {and mum} for a lovely afternoon in the sunshine. Let’s hope the sun returns to the Sunshine Coast soon as it’s pretty dismal at the moment.
